The mill, located in a picturesque side valley of the Uessbach to the east of Demerath, was first mentioned in 1500. The village chronicle shows that the mill in 1578, in its function as a ban mill, granted a persecuted person six weeks and three days free residence and security against access by the persecutors. Today the Demerather Mühle is a popular hiking destination on the edge of the Eifelverein high-altitude hiking trail Vulkanweg. It was renovated from 1999 to 2001 and expanded by a wooden frame construction.
