    Mountain biking

Beg to differ with Danny - rode on a GRVL bike on 45 knobblies and didn't feel particularly in control on about 60% of it. Experienced off roaders and MTBers would probably lap it up though

Get ready for a moderate mountain biking adventure on the Devils Bridge to Barbon loop, covering 12.6 miles (20.3 km) with a total elevation gain of 1472 feet (449 metres). This route offers a diverse experience, taking you through rocky tracks, bridleways, and quiet B-road tarmac. You'll pedal through the picturesque Lune Valley and Barbondale, where you can enjoy magnificent views of the Howgill Fells. Keep an eye out for the beautiful Barbon Beck and Barbon Woods as you ride. The entire loop should take you about 1 hours and 42 minutes to complete, offering a classic Dales-style ride. You can also climb to Brownthwaite Trig Point for 360-degree vistas spanning the fells and even Morecambe Bay.

When planning your ride, you can typically find parking near the historic Devil's Bridge, which serves as a popular starting point for this loop. Be prepared for varied conditions on the trail; sections like Barbon Low Fell can be wet and soft underfoot, especially after rain. You will encounter a ford over Barbon Beck, but if you prefer to stay dry, an alternative bridge crossing is available nearby. This route is best enjoyed when the weather is dry to avoid the wettest conditions.

This mountain biking loop offers a quintessential Dales-style experience, blending natural beauty with engaging terrain. The route is notable for its journey through the picturesque Lune Valley and Barbondale, providing stunning views of the Howgill Fells. The historic Devil's Bridge itself is a landmark worth noting, not just as a starting point but for its own scenic appeal. It's a great way to explore the varied landscapes of the Yorkshire Dales National Park.
