Enjoy a beautiful view of the Gorges de la Bourne from the Croix de Valchevrière. It is an important memorial to the French resistance in the Vercors during the Second World War. In 1944, the hamlet of Valchevrière was completely destroyed during a German attack.

The "Cross of Valchevrière" is not only a great viewpoint over the Gorges de la Bourne, but also a memorial to the resistance in World War II. The hamlet of Valchevrière was one of several hiding places of the Resistance and was completely destroyed in a German attack in 1944. In response to the proclamation of the "République du Vercors", the Vercors also became the scene of war crimes on the part of the German occupiers.
