The designation, on the hand, goes back to a wooden cross with an iron hand (oath hand) that indicated the former weight limit of the Friedewald office.

The memorial stone "An der Hand" symbolizes the former judicial boundary of the Friedewald office. There used to be a wooden cross with an iron hand (oath hand).
This iron hand can also be found when driving in the Thuringian Forest and was very common at the time.
