“This hedge made of dead wood, willow posts and young shoots will have a life of its own in a very short time. The willows knock out, the dead wood rots and releases nutrients.
Plant seeds are brought in by wind and animals, new life is created.
The hedge provides living space for animals that would otherwise have to search in our tidy landscape. These include hedgehogs, shrews, sand lizards, slow worms and toads. Birds, e.g. Blackbirds, robins and the wren find nesting places. Useful insects such as wild bees and bumblebees find shelter and build their nests.
