The church of St. Apollinaris in the Frielingsdorf district of Lindlar was built between 1927 and 1928 according to plans by Dominikus Böhm using older components.

A smaller chapel in the same place already existed in 1797 and was replaced by a church in 1848. After the tower of this church was damaged by lightning strikes in 1897, the roof finally collapsed in 1926, so that a new building was necessary for the community, which had also grown. Dominikus Böhm was commissioned, who created his first church for the Rhineland here.
