St. John the Baptist is a Catholic branch church of the parish of St. Lucia in Greffen, a district of Harsewinkel in East Westphalia. Bishop Robert (1042–1063) donated the Greffen main courtyard to the cathedral chapter. It was owned by the dean of Münster Cathedral, who presumably had the first church in Greffen built around 1100. The Münster Cathedral chapter founded the Romanesque wooden church with a flat ceiling as its own church. The cemetery was located directly adjacent to the church's outer walls.
