The Baumgarten parish is surrounded by 5 lakes and has a church that even Theodor Fontane impressed a little. He noted their "splendid location over the Kirchsee". The congregation has fewer than 50 members. The construction of the pretty stone church is dated to the year 1704.

The Baumgarten organ has been working again for several years. The community owes this to the organ builder and lover John Barr, who worked on many Brandenburg village churches - on a voluntary basis.
