Beautiful rock formations made of red sandstone. The red sandstone cliffs in the Rur Valley have been under nature protection since 1999. Eagle owls have been breeding here again for some time. Every year the eagle owls are counted in the rocks of the Rur valley and the young are ringed. In 2017, five uhu pairs were able to raise ten cubs in the Rur Valley.
