Hiking

The first documented mining of basalt rock at Hoher Hagen took place around 1825. It ended in the mid-1970s. In 1989, the filling and stabilization of the pits and slopes began with the construction of the ICE line Göttingen-Würzburg near Jühnde. The area was recultivated.
