Situated nearby to the picturesque Surrey village of Cranleigh is the excellent vantage point of Reynards Hill.

The hill has been deemed the most romantic place to watch the sunrise or sunset in Surrey, and that's no surprise, it is the highest point in Hurtwood and affords some magnificent views across the surrounding countryside of the Surrey Hills AONB.

Embark on the Pitch Hill & Winterfold loop, a moderate hike that takes you through a captivating mix of dense forests and open heathland. This 5.0-mile (8.0 km) route challenges you with 568 feet (173 metres) of elevation gain, typically completed in about 2 hours and 15 minutes. As you hike, you'll discover expansive views from peaks like Pitch Hill and Reynard's Hill, stretching far across the landscape.

When planning your visit, be aware that some sections of the trail can be steep and rutted, especially after rain, so sturdy footwear is recommended. While certain paths remain dry, others may become muddy, adding to the adventure. You should also know that parts of this route are shared with mountain bikers, so stay alert and share the path respectfully.

This loop offers more than just natural beauty; it also features unique art installations, such as 'Perspectives', which add an interesting cultural layer to your outdoor experience. The trail provides a wonderful sense of escape, immersing you in the diverse terrain of the Surrey Hills National Landscape.
