The infamous Nazi war criminal Josef Mengele came from a family of Günzburg manufacturers and still casts a shadow over the city to this day. The memorial is a text panel around which eyes are grouped. Revealed on March 8, 2005

Josef Mengele, a concentration camp doctor in Ausschwitz, had carried out experiments on Sinit and Roma using cruel methods. This memorial contains 174 eyes - some individually, some are pairs of eyes. A group of students led by the Günzburg art teacher Brigitte Tschörner was responsible for the creation of the memorial.
