Hiking

It was primarily the Franciscans who promoted worship of the saint as early as the 13th century. Later it was the Jesuits and the Carmelites who gave strong support to his cult and helped lift Joseph out of his contemptible role. In this respect, it was only logical that the Carmelites not only made the saint the patron saint of their monastery church in Simmern, which was newly built between 1750 and 1752, but also gave a lot of space to his life.
