The town hall also fell victim to the town fire of 1540. During the reconstruction in the transitional style to the Renaissance, it received the characteristic west gable with rich stucco tracery and the windows got curtain arches. The burghers liked the lavish decoration - soon two town houses with similar gables were built. In the years that followed, the town hall was rebuilt and renovated several times. Its façade bears a strong resemblance to the west gable of the town hall and the bishop's house in Kammin, which were built at the same time. Source: Wikipedia

The Old Town in Stargard is the historical heart of the city and one of the most valuable urban spaces in Western Pomerania. It is distinguished by its perfectly preserved medieval circular layout, surrounded by green parkland created on the site of former ramparts and moats. Although the Old Town suffered immense destruction during World War II, monumental Gothic brick monuments have survived here to this day, thanks to which Stargard is considered one of the most important points on the European Route of Brick Gothic.
