You can expect to complete this journey in about 53 minutes, immersing yourself in the unique atmosphere of Kīlauea caldera.
When planning your visit, be prepared for diverse weather conditions, which can range from hot and dry to wet and windy. Always carry sufficient water, sun protection, and rain gear to stay comfortable and safe. It is also wise to check for current conditions, especially regarding sulfur dioxide levels, before you head out to the park.

As you hike, you will traverse areas of ʻōhiʻa and koa forest before reaching open vistas of the craters.
