The Nordøe Temple is actually more of an obelisk and was erected in the 16th century. It is intended to commemorate the friendship between the Danish king and his governor of Schleswig-Holstein. According to legend, its builder, Heinrich Rantzau, bet the Danish king that he would build a tower in one night that would surpass the church tower of Krempe. He succeeded, as the Nordøe Temple stands on a hill and is taller than the Krempe church.
