Great view over the plain. Hausweiler can be seen to the south and Vernich to the north. The dam was built in 1982.

Edit: As a child I always wondered why the pool had to be so big. Now I've found out why on my own loaf. Crazy pictures when the pool is full.

Running

The HRB Horchheim can hold up to 1.4 million cubic meters of water. It was badly damaged in the 2021 flood and had already overflowed the dam crest. However, it held up and prevented even worse things from happening. Currently one path has been destroyed and the path on the dam is closed. On the Lommersum side, however, you can easily walk on a cross path.
