The Christ Church, located in the immediate vicinity of Bochum's town hall, which was built between 1877 and 1879 in the neo-Gothic style, is a symbol and memorial against war and is considered one of the most important new religious buildings in Europe. Largely destroyed by the air raids in 1943, only the tower remained standing. The Protestant church was built as a listening room and has 854 seats in front of a 60 square meter stage. The acoustics are at concert hall level. The nighttime light installation is particularly worth seeing.
