Sperlingslust is a historic archway with an integrated small gallery. Events and exhibitions occasionally take place here. The Sperlingslust gallery is open every second Sunday of the month from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. But it is better to inquire beforehand with the Freundeskreis der Galerie Sperlingslust so that you do not stand in front of closed doors.

Nice place. The route to Rockhausen is a bit mountainous.

Impeccable surface, sufficient width for oncoming traffic.

Be careful on the descent! There are three tricky-to-predict rain gutters across the road. Without brakes, the wheels will be shot to pieces.

The building complex "Sperlingslust - Residential building, Gatehouse and Coach house" is part of the former monastery estate of the Carthusian Monastery Erfurt from the 12th/13th century in Kirchheim. Since the 1990s, this last remaining part of the estate has been vacant and the condition of the buildings has deteriorated. The task was to preserve the listed buildings, to renovate, convert and modernize them for use as a residential building and gallery. The functional separation of the gatehouse and the residential building had a significant influence on the new arrangement of the access zones of the buildings. For the residential building, the conversion included a reorganization of the room program for residential use with an open floor plan, a covered walkway in the coach house, and a newly designed courtyard area.

A very beautiful, ancient church. However, services in winter are a challenge... 😮😉 very cold.
