Piedmont is a lovely, small city in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains. It has several restaurants, cafés, and accommodation options, so it is a great place to stop along the Chief Ladiga Trail.

The Chief Ladiga Western Terminus is on the outskirts of Anniston next to Michael Tucker Park. The park has a bathroom with showers, picnic area with shelter and a parking area. There are also 16 primitive camping spots if you want to stay the night before setting off on the trail.

Avondale Park, situated next to the Avondale Library, is a small oasis in downtown Birmingham. It features a beautiful outdoor amphitheatre, duck pond, walking trail and tennis courts.
