Wurzen. Jürgen Schmidt still vividly remembers September 9, 2004 – the late afternoon when the then Prime Minister of Saxony, Georg Milbradt (CDU), climbed into the excavator to signal the start of construction of the new Mulde Bridge. Thirty-three months later – on May 23, 2007 – the mammoth project concluded with a celebration and fireworks display.

Brandis Town Church, first documented in 1121, is also worth a visit. It boasts a magnificent Donat organ from 1705. The masonry remains of the nave and the tower crossing date back to the Romanesque period. The tabernacle, mounted on a twisted column on the north side of the chancel, is one of the church's oldest furnishings. Next to it is an epitaph depicting a child in clerical robes. https://www.leipzig.travel/recherchetext/brandis-stadt-der-bedeutsamen-steine
