Stadtkyll is located in the volcanic Eifel on the Kyll. The place consists of the districts of Niederkyll, Schönfeld and Stadtkyll. Stadtkyll is a state-approved climatic health resort and, thanks to its numerous accommodation facilities, has around 65,000 holiday guests every year, with around 270,000 overnight stays. A train station existed on the now dismantled Vennquerbahn Jünkerath - Losheim - Weywertz. The railway line of the former Vennquerbahn was expanded into a hiking and cycling route by spring 2015, with connections both in Weywertz to the Vennbahn route and in Jünkerath to the German cycle path network.

Stadtkyll was first mentioned in a document as a church property in Cologne in the middle of the 13th century. In the period that followed (around 1292), Stadtkyll quickly gained importance with its walls and castle. In 1310 Stadtkyll received city rights and thus also the right to use a coat of arms, which largely corresponds to today's. Since the stones of the city wall were used in the reconstruction after fires and wars, the old city wall disappeared completely. Today, the approximate course of the fortification can only be seen from the rows of houses on Burgbergstrasse. Source. Wikipedia
