The village is particularly known for its cheese of monastic origin. Pont-l'Évêque is a soft cheese with a washed or brushed rind, square in shape to distinguish it from other cheeses at the time. But if you visit, you'll see that the village's character also lies in its narrow streets, its half-timbered houses, and its integration with nature along the stream that runs through it.

Amazing half-timbered houses! Their architectural style is reminiscent of English houses – or vice versa.

In Bonneville-la-Louvet, on the D534 road, there still exists what was once a station (later the post office) on the route of a railway line that linked Cormeilles to Pont l’Évêque. The train operated from 1904 until the 1930s, replaced by coaches and a little later, in 1936, for goods. Completely abandoned afterwards, the rails were removed in favor of widening the road and for the construction of housing in the second half of the 20th century.

This church, steeped in history, was part of an important priory in the Middle Ages and is considered the Norman equivalent of Port-Royal. A beautiful and picturesque church that is well worth a visit.

Be careful crossing the city center because many motorists do not take cyclists into account
