Zell Black Cat Fountain The citizens of Zell have created a worthy memorial to their world-famous wine, the "Zeller Black Cat" vineyard, with this fountain. "Zeller Black Cat" Fountain The citizens of Zell have created a worthy memorial to their world-famous wine, the "Zeller Black Cat" vineyard, with this fountain. The fountain square is located in the town center and is the center of numerous events. The fountain was created from Eifel basalt in 1936. "He steiht ferm wie'n Zeller us'm Hamm" - "Here stands a Zeller from Hamm," reads the inscription on the fountain. In 1532, during the defense of Trier against the onslaught of Franz von Sickingen, a hundred Zell citizens set out for Trier to repel this onslaught. The Trier residents ultimately succeeded with the support of the Zeller population.
