It's been almost 20 years since an attempt to dredge the Rehnaer Mühlenteich went completely wrong. In January 2007, hurricane "Kyrill" not only sank an excavator but also put the project on hold for the next few years. 19 years later, the Mühlenteich has been dredged and a footbridge built over it. Visitors to the footbridge complained about the missing railing on the land side. But Martin Reininghaus has an explanation for that: "The footbridge is officially only a service bridge for the two 40-centimeter-wide sluices in the sheet pile walls that separate the Mühlenteich from the Radegastlauf. This ensures that water can flow into the Mühlenteich and the Radegast maintains its flow rate."

A beautiful half-timbered house on the opposite side of the market attracts attention: the Zeiss'sche Haus, Markt 12 and 13, which was already built in 1692 as a town hall and is therefore one of the oldest houses in the city. Of the many users in succession, the family that gave it its name has been preserved, which in the 20th century initially operated a bookbindery, a book and paper shop, and a photo studio here.... http://www.ipernity.com/doc/1081883/46583388

The Kloster Café, located in a historic farmer's house right on the church square, is a perfect place to relax. The Haupt family offers cozy spots for refreshments in the house's main hall and parlor, as well as in the beautiful inner courtyard, and spoils visitors with homemade cakes and pastries. The Moordiele organic shop offers regional and natural products, specifically based on moor. https://www.kloster-rehna.com/reisen-besuchen/essen-genie%C3%9Fen/klostercaf%C3%A9/
