Since 2016, the church hall built in 1987 no longer serves as a church. Behind the tower is a cemetery. Well, it is not beautiful, but it is special.

The village of Midwoud has lost quite a few churches over the centuries. There is a wooden church, located near the former village centre, which went up in flames in the 16th century. It is possible that a new wooden church was built on the site of the current church. It was replaced in 1695 by a stone church on Dorpsstraat. This church lasted almost two centuries. In 1868, a completely new hall church with tower was built on the same site, in the architectural style known as eclectic, which means that a motley collection of earlier architectural styles was used. All that remains of this hall church from 1868 is the tower and some photos. The photos show a heavily decorated church, which is somewhat reminiscent of a recumbent cuckoo clock (sorry, Midwoud). In 1984, the church went up in flames. The tower remained standing. In 1987/1988, a new hall church was built, separate from the tower. The tower was supported by steel beams, which extend into the new hall church. A curious sight!! Sin
