This mill can be found near Engeln on Sulinger Straße. You can get very close and take pictures of the building. There is also an information table.

December 18, 2021, Behlmer Windmill

Extract from https://www.bruchhausen-vilsen.de: "The free-standing Behlmer mill is visible from afar. It was built in 1876 by master miller Heusmann as an octagonal, two-story gallery Dutchman. The mill changed hands several times until it was taken over by the Stumpenhusen millers in 1929. In 1934, after a hurricane that severely damaged the mill, the harvester was dismantled and a compass rose was installed for the first time to automate the turning of the cap and the blades into the wind. In 1968 the mill was stopped and the three grinding aisles were removed. In 1988/89 the mill was completely renovated, and in 1991 an operational grinder was installed. In addition to a loom, various agricultural implements are exhibited in the mill. The mill is used by the Engeln Heimatverein for cultural events, encounters and exhibitions. Since 1993 "mill weddings" have been carried out in the Behlmer Mühle by the registry office of the Bruchhausen-Vilsen community. " For me one of the most beautiful windmills that I know. Her brilliant white suits her very well.

The watermill is first mentioned in 1609. The current half-timbered part dates from 1730 and the stucco-decorated residential building from the 19th century. The water from the Hache was dammed in the approximately 4000 m² mill pond. In 1974 the company was stopped. Today the mill houses a sophisticatedly renovated restaurant and hotel.
