The manor house was built in 1782 by Freiherr Wilhelm Treusch von Buttlar and is now used as a private residence. The neoclassical building got a columned portal around 1915 and has been allowed to call itself a “castle” ever since. An old noble coat of arms can be seen in the flat triangular gable. The lily in it is a symbol of responsibility and beauty.

The church in Niederurff was built around 1500 on the site of a former fortified church, using old pieces of wall in the choir and west tower. The rectangular fortified cemetery also dates back to ancient times. The coat of arms of the Counts of Waldeck can be found on one of the windows of the church. Battenhausen was first mentioned at the end of the 12th century. It is located in the middle of the forests of the Kellerwald and below the Hohes Lohr mountain. And because it is the highest place in the Kellerwald and occasionally snowfall can be expected, winter sports are practiced here. Perfect for tobogganers and beginners. The image of the small town is shaped by the Protestant church. It was partly built between 1779 and 1786 with the Gothic masonry of the previous church. The parish stands and the pulpit also date from this time. An organ was only installed in 1904. There is an inn in the village where you can stop off or spend the night.

The simple, two-storey classicist building with plastered half-timbering was built in 1782. In 1915 the owner at the time added a neoclassical porch with a balcony under the triangular gable, and since then the building has been referred to as a palace. After an eventful history, the castle is now privately owned. It is used as a residential complex for a dental clinic, and in the renovated cavalier house there is a hotel with a wellness facility.
