A very beautiful wildlife park in Mehlmeisel (Fichtelberg), an interesting visit for adults and children alike. However, you should definitely be there for the guided tour and feeding. The staff are very attentive to feeding and explaining the animals. Another highlight for children are the goats and sheep that can be petted and fed. Guided tours and feedings are available daily from 2:00 p.m. and 4:30 p.m.

There are a lot of excursion options from here. You can either ride your mountain bike along a trail towards Mehlmeisel/Fichtelberg or along the Jägersteig (experienced only!) towards Kemnath. The wildlife park is opposite and the place is also recommended as a starting point for hikers.

According to the sign, the ponds could date from the 13th - 16th century. The ponds were filled at this time. This means that dams were built where the water could collect conveniently in depressions in the landscape. Fish farming was also a big topic for monasteries like Speishardt and Waldsassen. For more information, just read the board 😉

The food at the Bayreuther Haus was excellent, especially the huge Hüttenschnitzel and the homemade Kaiserschmarrn from the Austrian boss. Absolute recommendation from me!

The listening hut is located on the fitness trail. Before that, horizontal bars are set up. In the hut you can listen to instructions. I recommend putting one ear to the funnel and keeping the other ear closed.
