Dear Alf, I don't want to come across as a know-it-all. But your architectural history information needs to be supplemented at least. The market town of Langquaid is a planned urban market founded around the middle of the 13th century. The wonderful street market is therefore very old. The village settlement immediately to the north is several hundred years older (Kelheimer Str.). Some of the beautiful, mostly gabled town houses date from the late Renaissance, i.e. around 1600. Some are from the Baroque period and also from the late 19th century (neo-Gothic stepped gables). The rest is more recent and is a poor imitation of historical models. Bert Obermayer
