Descent towards Krottenkopf is tricky this time of the year. There is still some snow and the path is a bit obscured. Also, very muddy and slippery. Extra care is needed. Just stick to the rocky part and skip over the pines to get to the path to Krottenkopf, don't get into the snow.

Currently unfortunately a construction site, as the stake apparently no longer holds the stone 😉

At the summit there is a large cross and several benches. It's a wonderful place to rest.

I took the path from the Weilheimer Hut, and from the wooden cross onward, a narrow path was visible. The path isn't obvious from below, but it becomes clear bit by bit with careful, slow walking. It then leads over scree, so surefootedness is essential, and is marked by cairns. Anyone who misses the path along the way will have a hard time finding it again, as it is no longer maintained and has no visible markings. Therefore, it's only for experienced hikers. I do NOT recommend descending from this side.

Breathtaking view after a steep, sometimes difficult climb

The path from the car park to the shelter is also an educational trail - here is an excavated and upside down root of a "shallow rooter"

I can recommend the path to Schafkopf or Brünstelskopf. Both are beautiful. The latter is longer and more secluded.

Beautiful southerly ascent from Farchant past a small waterfall and through varied forest. Also suitable for autumn, as long as there is not too much snow up there.
