110% (47.7 degrees) / Stoosbahn is the world's steepest funicular railway The Stoosbahn is the world's steepest funicular railway, overcoming an incline of 110% (47.7 degrees). This technical innovation opened in December 2017 and offers an impressive journey from Schwyz to the car-free mountain village of Stoos. The railway can transport up to 1500 passengers per direction per hour and is accessible for wheelchair users and owners of prams. The journey time is between 4 and 7 minutes, and the railway offers a luxurious trip with automatic level compensation, so passengers always stand horizontally during the ride. The route from Weggis to Vitznau has a sidewalk that is also permitted for cyclists. It becomes a bit more problematic in high summer, on weekends and holidays. Then many hikers and walkers are also here on the path. The road is already quite busy, but also depending on the time of day and other factors. Road cyclists have no trouble with it. I moved as much on the road as on the bike path. With a little respect and consideration, it works. For flowing riding, use the road. You just have to decide on the spot. On the bike path, you can stop again and again and enjoy the view 😍.
