A very beautiful church at the crossroads to Ronco/Ascona. Note: This is a very challenging climb for a 2-wheel road bike, especially before Intragna. The road bike route via Losone Tegna is easier :-)

❌Please notice the cycle path is on the other side of the River. This road segment is very busy and the road is narrow. Is not possible for the bus to overpass a cyclist, causing unpleasant situation for everybody.

The Sacro Monte consists of the pilgrimage church of Santa Maria Addolorata and the Way of the Cross that leads up to it from Brissago. A.F. Branca, the owner of the Palazzo Branca (now Baccalà) in the center of the village, had an earlier church expanded between 1767 and 1773. The path to the Sacro Monte, surrounded by forest, is still very impressive, even though the place has lost its wild, dramatic character of earlier times.
