The Hammerkapelle in Villingen is a small, charming cultural monument right on the edge of the Villingen spa gardens. The Baroque church, around 300 years old, is a very popular photo motif due to its idyllic location in the Kirnach valley – especially for wedding couples. Year of construction: The year 1723 is chiseled into the stone lintel above the entrance. (Some historical sources alternatively mention the year 1727). Naming: It is not historically unequivocally documented who once endowed the chapel. However, the close connection to the former, nearby forge "Unterer Hammer" in the Kirnach valley, from which the current name is derived, is certain. Compact architecture: The chapel is designed as a simple, plastered rectangular building with a small, wooden turret for the bell. Restoration: The historic building is regularly maintained and elaborately restored to secure its structural substance for the future.

Beautiful mossy forest paths, especially in the first half of the trail through the Germanswald forest. The route is very well signposted for the most part, but in some places, in my opinion, the signage is not ideally placed, so it's easy to take a wrong turn.
