Near the cathedral is the market hall, which is also open on Sundays and offers French specialties and fruit. Connoisseurs will also find a large selection of Cahors wines, for which the town is known.

From here, you have the best view of the gorge and, above all, of the medieval village, built steeply on the rocks (150 m high) with its churches and chapels. Rocamadour is a much-visited place of pilgrimage and houses the relics of Saint Amadour and the Black Wooden Madonna (12th century). Many shops and restaurants are located along the Rue de la Couronnerie, the only and lively street. There are plenty of parking spaces in the surrounding area, so it will be very busy in the summer months.

Be careful when crossing these bridges. During my last hike, the metal sheets fixed between the rails were falling... you might take a nice dip in the Lot River!

All part of a stunning route we did. The old town, with regeneration effort and also some boarded up churches were so interesting to observe.
