September 28, 2026, Dragon Fountain (Dragespringvandet), City Hall Square, Copenhagen

The Drachenbrunnen (Dragespringvandet) on Copenhagen City Hall Square is a monument of bronze and granite, designed by Joakim Skovgaard and Thorvald Bindesbøll. The fountain basin is lined with water-spouting dragons and lizards, which, according to an anecdote, were intended to intimidate citizens with complaints when entering the City Hall. After several relocations and a renovation during the subway construction, the fountain was fully reopened in the center of the square in June 2023.

The famous Dragon Fountain stands in the middle of the Town Hall Square in Copenhagen and features a fighting bull and dragon as its central motif. The artwork was designed by Joakim Skovgaard and Thorvald Bindesbøll, with the inauguration being delayed for several years until 1923 after some back and forth. After several relocations and an extensive renovation, the fine piece has been standing smartly restored in its place again since 2023.

The views of the newer city districts are very interesting. Old and partly very modern architecture merge.

The Danish National Gallery is located here. It is the country's largest art museum. Very well accessible by train through Österport.

This is an inner-city outdoor pool in harbor water. This does not work in every European capital. However, you can swim in the water here.
