The monastery was founded in 1497 and was a place of prayer and intercession until 1784. After several changes of ownership and use, the monastery was taken over by the Salesians of Don Bosco in 1950, who set up a novitiate there. Since 2011, the monastery has belonged to a private company that uses it for church and tourist purposes. The monastery building is a historical structure that combines elements from different eras. The late Gothic church was converted to Baroque style in the 17th century and renovated after a fire in the 19th century. The tower with an onion helmet dates from 1868. The church is dedicated to Saint Anna and houses a high altar from 1868 and a pulpit from 1880. If you want to visit St. Anna Monastery Schwanenstadt, you can visit the official website of the monastery. There you will find information about the history, architecture and works of art of the monastery as well as what it offers for guests and pilgrims.
