The Schönbrunnerstiege is a striking path, partly equipped with around 160 iron steps, in the Großer Höllental valley near Reichenau an der Rax. It leads from the Weichtalhaus into the rear valley and is also the classic access to the numerous climbing routes and more alpine routes on the rock faces of the Rax-Schneeberg group. It runs predominantly as an easily walkable path with some simple secured sections (difficulty A) and requires sure-footedness, sturdy footwear, and some stamina, but is technically not a difficult via ferrata. Especially in spring and summer, it is an impressive starting point for hikers and mountaineers who want to ascend into the Großer Höllental or further to classic destinations such as the Höllentalaussicht or Ottohaus.
