The Jagdhausalm was first documented in 1212 as "six farms, which are called Schwaighöfe in the vernacular, all located together at the place Jagehusen in the Schwarzach area". At that time, it was managed as a permanent settlement, farmed as a Schwaige all year round. However, due to the extreme altitude, this cattle farming use had to be abandoned soon. As early as 1406, only "Alben" are mentioned in this area instead of farms.
