A small but beautiful observation tower with a good view of the field. There are two observation platforms and you can observe birds well, for example.

One of the best bakeries in Germany, or so I've read. That might well be true – the baked goods are fantastic. If you can actually get any. An empty counter isn't unlikely. Try a Buchteln (sweet roll) as a snack!

Built in the 12th century and adapted to current military technology several times, the defensive system finally lost its function during the Thirty Years' War due to changes in military technology. In the 18th century, the system was to be repurposed: mulberry trees were planted on the wall for the production of silk. However, the plan to produce silk proved to be less than successful. Today, the rampart and moat - the former defensive ditch - form the green belt around the old Hanseatic city. The paths at the foot of the rampart and on the wall are equally popular with walkers as they are with joggers and cyclists. Magnificent panoramas with the Soest church towers, quaint inner-city gardens, but also brightly lit half-timbered houses in the evening hours on the inner rampart are always attractive eye-catchers. One of the most beautiful times for a walk along the rampart is when the trees are in blossom in April/May, when the partly old and exotic trees are in full bloom. St. Patroclus Cathedral, the epitome of Romanesque architecture in Westphalia, is actually a collegiate church. The canonry was founded and settled from Cologne. Soest was the center of the Cologne archbishops in Westphalia. The relics of the holy martyr Patroclus came to Soest in 954. The monastery was only founded in the 11th century. The collegiate church was consecrated on June 11, 1166. It is the only one of the old churches in Soest's old town that has remained Catholic.

The Herr von Myra bakery in Soest impressed me across the board. The products are of excellent quality and taste absolutely convincing. Whether bread, rolls or sweet baked goods - everything was fresh and incredibly delicious. The friendly and courteous service is also particularly noteworthy. As a customer you feel really welcome and well treated. A visit that is definitely worth it 👍🏻
