The Albert Canal starts here and goes from Liège to Antwerp. The canal has been a connection between the Maas and the Scheldt since 1939. It flows through three provinces and is approximately 130 km long. The towpaths along this canal have usually been converted into cycle paths or cycle highways, although this can sometimes be interrupted by the industry on the water. Diversion is provided.

To the south, the park is extended towards the bank of the Meuse by the wooded area of the Place des Déportés (parking lot).
