Grave of Anna Karbe and her family. Anna Karbe (born May 4, 1852, in Gramzow, Uckermark; died April 19, 1875, in Lichterfelde, Barnim) was a Brandenburg song and regional poet who achieved literary recognition during her lifetime. Born the daughter of a Prussian district councilor, she received no formal schooling but taught herself to read and was tutored by pastors and private tutors. Her life was marked by health problems and family suffering, which was reflected in her poetry. She herself referred to her works as "kitchen songs." After her death, her poems continued to be published, and one was included in the Protestant hymnal for Brandenburg and Pomerania in 1931. In honor of her artistic and local historical significance, an elementary school, a street, and a memorial stone in Gramzow were named after her.

The church was built as a rectangular fieldstone structure with a western transept tower the width of the nave. The tower likely dates from the 14th century. The church was severely damaged during the Thirty Years' War and was not rebuilt until 1686. Significant restorations took place in 1969/1970 and again in the 1990s, when the roofs were renewed.

A memorial stone for the Brandenburg song and regional poet Anna Karbe stands in Gramzow on "Anna-Karbe-Platz" at the entrance to Bahnhofstraße. This square is named after her, as are the Anna-Karbe-Schule (Anna Karbe School) and Anna-Karbe-Straße (Anna Karbe Street) in Gramzow. The local primary school focuses on the life and works of Anna Karbe.

The Gramzow Monastery ruins are the landmark of the oldest documented settlement in the Uckermark region. The Premonstratensian monastery was founded in 1178 by Duke Bogislaw I of Pomerania. The original fieldstone church was built around 1235, but was rebuilt into a three-aisled brick church in the 14th century. On July 23, 1714, a major fire destroyed the entire monastery complex, all the farm buildings, and many residential houses. Only the western part of the church survived, including a richly articulated west gable and the remains of a hexagonal chapel. For decades, the ruins served as a source of building materials until government measures halted further decay in 1885. A comprehensive preservation project was carried out between 1996 and 1999.
