Fantastic historic city center located on an elongated hill with a high density of churches, city palaces, and atmospheric squares, streets, and alleys.

Admittedly, my encounter with the monument here in Vizzini revealed a gap in my knowledge, as I had never been familiar with either the person or the work of Giovanni Verga (1840 to 1922) before. The man honored here in his hometown with a beautiful statue and a museum is recognized by Wikipedia as "an Italian writer and one of the main representatives of Verismo, Italian naturalism. His main works are the novels La Malavoglia (1881) and Mastro-Don Gesualdo (1889), as well as the short story collections Country Life (1880) and Peasant Novellas (1883)."

Beautiful place both for the view and for the paths immersed in the greenery. I recommend following the trail of the Gria stream.

Church in a panoramic position, in the upper part of the city.

The square of Palazzolo is the baroque square par excellence which led to the attribution of the title of UNESCO Heritage. The church was built after the devastating Noto earthquake with a new style that was in vogue in the 1600s. Baroque indeed. The church is stupendous, towering above the square, full of solemnity and sacredness like few others.

It wasn't convenient from Palazzolo, you had to go down from the town, but at least it was there. Today, instead of trains, cyclists pass along the route. Here, if it is open, there is a short climb that leads directly to the village.
