Villa Ottelio de Carvalho is one of the most beautiful historic residences in the Colli Orientali del Friuli. It stands on top of the Ottelio hill, cadastraly in the municipality of Manzano, although road access is from the nearby municipality of Buttrio. The villa was built at the end of the 17th century by the noble de Marchi family of Udine as the administrative center of a large farm. Even today, the coat of arms of the founding family is visible above the main portal. In 1769 it passed to the counts Ottelio, who expanded the complex by joining the main body to the rustic buildings of the eastern wing. Subsequently, it belonged to the Papafava dei Carraresi of Padua and, since 1984, to the de Carvalho family, from whom it takes its current name. The villa is not normally open to the public, but can be visited on certain dedicated days, especially during the regional initiative "Ville e Chiese Aperte".
