The bridge gate at the southern end is a landmark of the city. The bridge itself was a beautiful, four-part Art Nouveau arched bridge, which was unfortunately blown up by the Nazis in the final days of the war in 1945 and not rebuilt after the war. Instead, a purely functional structure was erected, which was completely renovated and visually enhanced in 2002/2003. The six bridge pulpits and the light blue paint date from this period.
