Lots of interesting facts about planets in orbit amidst beautiful nature, plus culture at Scheyern Monastery and culinary delights at the restaurant next to the monastery brewery.👍🏻😀

Unfortunately, it's no longer maintained. It's already very dilapidated.

The large bell of the five-pitch cast steel chime acquired in 1947. It is dedicated to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and, with its 6.2 tons, a diameter of 2.40 meters, and a height of 2.10 meters, is considered the largest cast steel bell in Bavaria. Now it stands here as a not entirely silent, but expressive witness to the courage and confidence of the people who, after the war and with great sacrifice and effort, acquired these bells for the monastery and parish church in Scheyern. In 2009, the post-war chime – consisting of five cast steel bells cast in Bochum in 1947 – was replaced with a 14-pitch bronze chime due to material fatigue and structural problems in the tower. Eleven bells were recast at the Perner bell foundry in Passau. Two old bells, one from 1816 and the other from 1921, which survived the Second World War, were incorporated into the new chime. A bell cast in Maria Laach in 2004 was donated to the monastery. It provided the impetus to add a five-part cymbal chime to the originally planned eight-part chime. The generous donations of many people made this sonorous bell ensemble possible. On June 28, 2009, the bells were consecrated with great public participation. The new sonority was demonstrated in a bell concert at the Holy Cross Festival on September 13, 2009. Source: Information board at the site
