Built soon after the park was opened to the public, the fountain located close to the Abbey Road entrance, just beyond the children’s playground, was one of two drinking fountains on the site. The inscription on it reads: β€œThis drinking fountain was presented to the City of Birmingham by Mr C M B Parson in memory of the late Mr Wilson Carter. Erection 1907” This early picture shows the fountain and has provided the basis for the current restoration.
