In August 2023, there were two trains per day to Tbilisi. Make sure to bring coins, as the ticket has to be bought on the train from a vending machine that only accepts coins. The fare is 2 Lari. On the first ~30 km to Khashuri, the train is going extremely slowly (max 25 km/h). But after that it's going faster so that it reaches Tbilisi according to the schedule. We took our bicycles which was no problem.

From Germany it is hardly used to finding a non-afforested, untidy and primeval forest. Everything is left here as it falls and happens. You can tell that and it creates an unbelievable magical atmosphere. Everything is covered in moss, there are overturned trees everywhere and there are many small and wild streams running around. Only one thing is not natural: the legendary path that leads through this gem.

The forest of the Borjomi National Park is the habitat for a large variety of different plants and creatures. If you are lucky, you will see one of the few brown bears or lynxes. Most of them, however, are too shy and avoid people's ways. But now and then one gets lost and usually disappears so fast that you hardly have time to focus on your lens.

All kinds of sources claim a certain healing effect - often unconfirmed. In Borjomi, however, it has been scientifically proven that spring water, known as "bicarbonate sodium acidus", has a fortifying effect on some bodily functions. In addition, it is very fluoride-containing, which saves every morning muffle brushing your teeth.
