About 300 meters from the locality “Ricciriglio” you arrive near a large boulder (on the left of those climbing) which gives its name to the locality “Pietra Vecchia”. In this place, according to an ancient legend, it is told that the devil appeared to the Madonna and was immediately put to flight by Her: a little further on, in fact, there is a rock that still bears the imprint of his claws. As a reminder, all pilgrims who are about to climb throw a stone onto it, with the aim of leaving sin there and going to the Sanctuary purified.

At an altitude of 1860 m asl is the Sant'Elia pass. Once you reach the top, the effort is over, you can enjoy the view and then head downhill.
