January 4, 2026, Zinnkopf

The Zinnkopf (1228 m above sea level) is a mountain in the Upper Bavarian district of Traunstein, part of the Chiemgau Alps. The municipalities of Siegsdorf (north side) and Ruhpolding (south side) meet at its summit. Beautiful view of Lake Chiemsee. I hiked from Hörgering. Simply beautiful with the snow in winter. Bring your own food; there are no places to stop for refreshments.

The Stoißer-Alm can be reached from Inzell via the Bäcker-Alm. However, this involves a good 700 meters of altitude gain. Once you reach the top, you will be rewarded with a magnificent panoramic view towards Salzburg and one of the most delicious Kaiserschmarrn.

If you approach the Zinnkopf from Eisenärzt, after a stretch of forest path you will come to a signpost where you can decide to continue along the forest path (easier but much longer) or take the path to the summit (shorter but steeper). At the summit there are a few benches that invite you to take a break and enjoy the snack you brought with you. Conclusion: A beautiful tour, nice little mountain, everything done right 😊👍.
